Peak season · Capacity check

Peak season: plan demand, reserves and approvals.

Whether an event, launch or seasonal campaign: separate ongoing demand, campaign volume and reserve. We check item mix, available goods, data and shifts against your dispatch window. The seasonal schedule adds concrete timing for Black Friday and Christmas.

The math

Planning creates clarity before the peak.

Peak projects need data, goods, processes and timeframes to fit together. The briefing clarifies the prerequisites and the next planning step.

Planning creates clarity before the peak.
Capacity at peak

The campaign line is built for peaks, not for the average.

For us, peak isn't a state of emergency, it's an operating mode. Four building blocks carry it.

01Scaling within hoursA flexible-staff pool and shift extensions raise capacity to 200 percent of baseline capacity within 24 hours — and to 400 percent of baseline capacity within 72 hours, when the campaign peak demands it.
02Output on demandThe campaign line runs between one and 15,000 shipments per day: display assembly, co-packing, kitting & assembly. The switch between campaigns takes less than three hours of changeover time.
03Readiness before the run startsShipment lists arrive via the online tool or the MEP platform, goods arrive at inbound just in time. Staff scheduling, verification by process engineering, a production-readiness check — only then does the line start. At peak there's no time for corrections, so they happen beforehand.
04Floor space and inventoryThe new warehouse building in Kleve spans 25,000 square meters, plus more than 55,000 group-wide pallet spaces. Inventory management runs in real time in our own ERP and warehouse management system — even while a campaign is running full tilt next door.

What this shows

Steady state and peak in one curve.

The curve shows where the campaign line adds capacity. The prepared resources behind the rise are what make it work.

Counting backward

From demand forecast to approved capacity.

Work backwards through arrival, transport, assembly and goods approval. Confirm dates and owners for each dependency. If goods or data are missing at approval, decide priorities, partial volumes or a revised window.

  1. 01

    Plan before the dispatch window

Record arrival and dispatch windows separately, along with recipient groups, quantities per variant and receiving conditions.

  2. 02

    Clarify the timeframe together

Agree dates for procurement, data approval, testing and transport, with buffer appropriate to the unresolved dependencies.

  3. 03

    Reserve and stop criteria

Plan a normal-demand and a higher-demand scenario. Set the point at which extra capacity is confirmed and the point at which timing or scope must be reconsidered.

  4. 04

    Existing customer setup

For existing customers, the briefing clarifies which preparation is required for a further campaign.

Proven campaigns

For us, peaks are ongoing operations.

For Erdinger, campaign periods run over several weeks, delivered directly to retail and grocery-chain central warehouses — short-notice special campaigns range from a small giveaway to a full truckload. Arizona brings a new peak with every product highlight, handled for Germany and the Benelux region.

For the Bitburger summer campaign, we ran the complete logistics management from goods receipt to prize-winner dispatch, including phone hotline and email support in the brand's name. And for Coca-Cola, we've handled all promotions for years.

In parallel, ongoing operations keep running — long-runners like Vaillant notice nothing of the peak season next door. That's exactly the point. These peak figures refer to baseline output: 200% is double, 400% is fourfold (+300%).

Achievable volume and lead time are agreed for the item mix, goods and data availability, staffing and shift plan.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about peak planning.

How does peak planning relate to onboarding?

For larger fulfillment takeovers, seven phases lead from master data and contracts through systems and stock transfer to go-live. Around 14 weeks is a possible planning framework, depending on assortment, data quality, interfaces, stock availability and approvals. Individual campaigns and digital projects receive their own project plan.

What applies to existing customers?

For existing customers too, the briefing clarifies which preparation is required for the planned campaign.

Do you also handle end-customer contact during the campaign period?

Yes. For the Bitburger summer campaign, the mandate included the phone hotline, complete email support and ongoing evaluation of all inquiries. We act in the brand's name throughout — the end customer sees your campaign, not our operation.
