GPS Tracking for Shipments and Event Equipment

PROWERB can add agreed GPS tracking to suitable shipments and event equipment. The latest reported position supports transport planning and exception handling alongside carrier events. Deployment duration, updates and reception conditions are agreed before the start.

GPS Tracking for Shipments and Event Equipment

Since 1979 · more than 2M shipments/year · ISO 9001 & 14001 · EcoVadis Silver

01 · Starting point

Assess location and transport events together.

Carrier scans describe transport events. Optional agreed tracking can support enquiries between these events. Reception, network, battery life and installation limit freshness; a missing signal does not prove loss or standstill.

Assess location and transport events together.
02 · Process

From the tracker on the load carrier to the position in the Cockpit.

Example: a time-critical equipment load carrier receives a tracker for the agreed deployment period. Before departure, we check mounting position, power or battery life and reception. The update interval and owner of a missing-signal case are agreed; the latest received position is assessed with its timestamp.

  1. 01

    Order planning

Together we define what gets tracked: the individual shipment, the load carrier, or the complete event equipment for a campaign.

  2. 02

    Equipping in the warehouse

The tracker is attached during packing or loading and assigned to the shipment in the system — tracking and order belong together from the start.

  3. 03

    Transport and dwell time

The position remains visible during transport and at the site of use — regardless of whether the carrier scans or not.

  4. 04

    Exception handling

In case of delay, deviation, or reported non-receipt, the position history provides the factual basis. The exception-handling team works with data instead of assumptions.

  5. 05

    Return

After the campaign or event, the tracker returns with the goods, is inspected, and goes into the next deployment.

03 · Use cases

Tracking pays off where replacement costs more than the tracker.

Not every standard shipment needs GPS. Tracking is deployed where goods are hard to replace, time-critical, or permanently in circulation.

01Event equipmentTrade-show stands, counters, structures: PROWERB runs event logistics including event warehousing and on-site assembly through its own teams — the equipment stays trackable between warehouse and venue.
02Rental stock in circulationEquipment from the rental pool is, by definition, never in the same place. Tracking plus system-supported inventory management keep track of where each item is currently in use.
03Time-critical campaign goodsWhen goods have to be at the point of sale by a set date, the location the day before decides — not the scan from two days ago.
04High-value special shipmentsDisplays, technical equipment, oversized goods, custom builds: shipments whose loss costs more than the campaign can absorb.
05Exception-handling preventionNon-receipt reports and transport deviations are part of daily logistics business. A position history shortens the resolution — or eliminates it entirely.

04 · Integration

The position lands where your reports already are.

Location data can be provided in the agreed reporting alongside shipment status and inventory. The source and timestamp of the latest response matter. Missing or outdated signals are clarified with the responsible contact.

05 · Context
At PROWERB, proprietary technology doesn't end at the warehouse gate.

At PROWERB, proprietary technology doesn't end at the warehouse gate.

GPS tracking doesn't stand alone here. It's the position layer of a tech stack built in-house: PROWERB CORE as a proprietary ERP and WMS, the MEP platform, the robotic system PROFLOW APC, a proprietary data lake.

And it meets an operation where goods are actually permanently on the move — event logistics and VIP ticketing for Coca-Cola, fan-shop and jersey logistics for Borussia Mönchengladbach, campaign logistics for brands such as Erdinger.

Where this much is being moved, the question "where is it right now" isn't an exception — it's everyday business.

Technology built in-house
ERP, WMS, platform, robotics: PROWERB builds the systems behind its logistics itself. Tracking fits into this landscape instead of standing beside it as a third-party module.
Event logistics as ongoing operations
Small and large events with event warehousing, on-site assembly and disassembly by in-house teams, reverse logistics with refurbishment — the routes where tracking shows its value.
Exception handling as a discipline
Non-receipt, transport deviation, additional costs: at PROWERB, exception cases are run as their own process — with correspondence in the customer's name and a documented factual basis.

Tracking is a building block of the outbound route.

02Exception handling and returns management →Non-receipt, transport deviation, returns — the process where position data pays off.

Frequently asked questions about GPS tracking

What's the difference between GPS tracking and normal shipment tracking?

Carrier shipment tracking reports scan events at handover points — there's no information in between. GPS tracking delivers the live position of the goods, independent of the carrier. Both complement each other: standard tracking for the shipment volume, GPS for what particularly matters.

For which shipments does GPS tracking make sense?

For event equipment, rental stock, time-critical campaign goods and high-value special shipments. We jointly determine what gets tracked per order — GPS is a targeted building block, not a blanket surcharge on every shipment.

Where do we see the position data?

In the Operations Cockpit, together with track & trace, inventory development and live reports — available around the clock and integrable into your systems on request.

Does tracking help with exception handling?

Yes. In cases of reported non-receipt or transport deviation, the position history provides the factual basis. That shortens resolution with the forwarder and recipient — handled by PROWERB's exception-handling team, in the customer's name on request.

What happens to the tracker after the campaign?

It returns to the warehouse with the goods, is inspected, and goes into the next deployment. The return runs through the same system-supported route as delivery.

Are people or drivers tracked?

No. What's tracked is the shipment, the load carrier, or the equipment — not people and not third-party vehicles.
