Our software · PROWERB

An application that makes the next step easy.

PROWERB develops web applications for specific product, campaign and operational tasks. User journeys, data and integrations are planned together and tested against real workflows.

Turn an idea into a useful tool

Define the purpose

Identify the central user task and the intended result.

Develop the interface

Organise information and actions clearly, including on small screens.

Connect to operations

Agree data, access and updates for ongoing use.

Platforms and their role

The product brief defines which devices and operating systems the app should support. This determines test devices, publication and ongoing maintenance.

Thesis

A product companion app needs ongoing maintenance.

Operating system updates, store requirements and new devices can change a companion app. Before publication, we agree supported platforms, who authorises changes and how testing, maintenance and service are organised in daily operations.

Atlas & Nexus · PROWERB systems

Planning stays connected to fulfilment.

Atlas gives clients access to products, stock, campaigns and orders. Nexus supports operational processing. We agree the views and handovers needed for your project.

Example workflow

One lamp. Three moments that need to work.

The example starts after unboxing a connected lamp. The app helps with pairing, provides suitable everyday controls and guides the user to support when something fails. Each situation needs a clear next step.

Development also covers the transitions: what happens when the device cannot be found? Does a setting survive a restart? What information does support need so the user does not have to repeat the entire story?

  1. 1

    Set up

Identify the device, explain prerequisites and help resolve a failed connection. The goal is the first successful use.

  2. 2

    Use every day

The most frequent task gets the shortest path. Settings, feedback and status must match the actual device.

  3. 3

    Get help

Instructions, product identification and contact belong together. Test the support handover with the team that will handle it.

Scope of services

The scope follows the product, not a feature catalog.

Five building blocks, each commissionable individually, together a digital product presence.

01Concept & product logicWe define what the app must do: setup, control, registration, service content. The starting point is the product function — not a wish list of features.
02Design in brand CIThe app is a brand touchpoint like packaging and the website. The design follows the brand's corporate identity — if none exists yet, we help build it as part of the project.
03Development & releaseBuild, test and release of the app including store publication and version maintenance — with sign-off on the real product, not the prototype.
04Connection to shop & websiteApp, online shop and website as one presence: consistent product data, shared content, one point of responsibility. We connect existing systems rather than replace them.
05Operations & further developmentUpdates for new operating-system versions, adjustments to store requirements, new features along the product roadmap — as an ongoing service, not an afterthought.
Operations

Development sits in Düsseldorf — not with a subcontractor.

Product-companion apps are built in the IT & Digital Hub Düsseldorf, the same unit that builds our own technology: the ERP and warehouse system PROWERB CORE, the MEP platform with its 18 modules, the reporting. Whoever builds systems for ongoing operations every day builds apps differently — for maintainability, for years. After launch, the app stays in our care, with fixed responsibilities for updates, incidents and expansion.

Reference

Brand building from zero — including the app.

A speaker manufacturer building its brand came to us without any digital infrastructure. PROWERB developed the presence from the ground up: brand, website, online shop — and a product-companion app for the manufacturer's speakers. Plus partnerships in the hospitality space for market access. The app here is not an add-on but part of the product: it accompanies the devices in their users' everyday lives.

Process

The path to the store is the shorter part.

  1. 01

    Product & target picture

Workshop with product management and sales: what must the app do, who uses it, what belongs in the first release?

  2. 02

    Concept & design

User flow, screens, CI implementation — coordinated with brand and product development.

  3. 03

    Development & testing

Implementation in iterations, tests on the real device, sign-off by the customer.

  4. 04

    Launch

Store publication and handover into ongoing operations.

  5. 05

    Operations & expansion

Updates, incident resolution, new features along the product roadmap — as an agreed ongoing service.

Related services

The app is one building block of the digital product presence.

01Shop Builds & Operations →Website and online shop for the app: build and ongoing operations on Magento, Shopify and JTL — the same presence, the same point of responsibility.
02Brand Building, CI & Content →If there's no brand identity yet for the app: brand, CI and content get built up as part of the project.
03Promotion & Sweepstakes Fulfillment →The other kind of app: campaign and sweepstakes apps with prize dispatch and end-customer support — time-limited rather than product-companion.
Before we start

What we agree before starting.

These decisions define scope, responsibilities and acceptance.

What belongs in the first release?

Prioritise a fully usable core task and its failure cases. Additional features are placed in later steps with effort and dependencies identified.

Who provides device connectivity?

The protocol, test devices, firmware and technical contacts must be available. A polished interface still needs a verified hardware connection.

How is operation handed over?

Define store accounts, approvals, updates and responsibilities before launch. Acceptance takes place on the agreed physical devices.

FAQ

Scope, operations, onboarding — the most frequent questions.

How does a product-companion app differ from a promotion app?

A promotion app belongs to a campaign: log in, collect points, scan QR codes — over once the campaign ends. A product-companion app belongs to the product and lives as long as it does. You'll find sweepstakes and promotion apps under Promotion & Sweepstakes Fulfillment.

Does PROWERB also build an app if the website and shop already exist?

Yes. Starting with the app alone is possible. We connect existing systems rather than replace them.

Under whose name does the app appear?

Under your brand. PROWERB develops and operates in the background — in the store, in the app and in communications, only your brand appears.

For which products does a companion app pay off?

For products that need to be set up, controlled or registered — or whose use depends on content: connected devices, technology requiring explanation, products with service needs. Whether an app is worthwhile, we clarify in the briefing, before the first line of code.
